Business was paralysed for the better part of Monday morning in Kilifi Town as heavy rains continue to pound the county.Drivers struggled to make their way through the flooded streets, after different roads in the county were rendered impassable, with rural areas being the most affected. The rains, however, did not hinder invigilators from distributing the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in the county.According to Ganze Deputy County Commissioner Mohamed Mwabudzo, the invigilators had distributed the exams to different schools before the onset of the rains in the area. He, however, expressed concern over the transportation of examination scripts from the schools.“As we speak now, most roads are impassable, especially in Midoina and Rima Ra Pera. There are some areas in Sokoke and Jaribuni, which have also been affected. Since it is still raining, we cannot be certain about how the situation will be,” said Mwabudzo, as quoted by the Nation. The DCC challenged farmers to take advantage of the heavy rains to plant crops in order to reap big during the harvesting period.Passengers in different parts of the county remained stranded as vehicles delayed to arrive because of the heavy downpour.Heavy rains have been pounding different parts of the nation causing landslides and floods.
