Part of the road is in Matungulu Sub-County while the other part is in Kathiani Sub-County. Since heavy rains begun, people using the road have been forced to walk as the road is already dilapidated, therefore, impassable by vehicles.

According to residents, construction of the road was scheduled to commence mid last year when Machakos County governor, Alfred Mutua visited Kathiani Sub-County on his tour to meet residents and used the same road. They expressed their anger saying that the county government has neglected them.

"I am aggrieved by the situation of this road. As a driver, I use the road daily and now that I have not been working for the last one week, the situation is just dragging me behind," said Philip Wambua.

Another resident said that despite the work of the county government to ensure that roads are in good condition, it's a shame that a vehicle belonging to one of the leaders in Kathiani Sub -County has been stuck along the same road for the last two days.

"It's a big shame a vehicle belonging one of MCA's in Kathiani Sub -County has spent two nights along the road," he said.

This comes barely five months after Kathiani MP Robert Mbui accompanied by several MCA's matched along the road as they peacefully demonstrated over its bad state. They called upon the county government to take action and save them from the crisis. They also vowed to hold another demonstration and storm the Machakos County government offices demanding for their rights.
