There are now fears of disease outbreak in Naivasha following the flooding of latrines as haeavy rains continue to pound the area.
Kihoto and the sprawling Karagita estates are the most affected areas where several of the latrines have either caved in or flooded.
The two estates also happen to be affected with the recent cholera outbreak which left over 50 people sick and admitted at the Naivasha Sub-county Hospital
The heavy rains have left a trial of damage, washing away livestock and flooding sections of the roads thus rendering them impassable .
According to Lake View MCA Simon Wanyoike, several latrines in Karagita, Kihoto and Kamere were filled up and cautioned residents against consuming water from shallow wells.
"We are advising residents in these areas who are mostly flower farm workers to take care of their hygiene to avoid disasters such as cholera,'' Wanyoike said.
Wanyoike added that those with shops along Kenyatta and Moi avenues were the most affected as the floods have destroyed goods of unknown value.
Leaders now want the roads rehabilitated so that normal operations can resume without affecting those using it including tourists.
A local, James Kimani expressed his concern over the ongoing rains adding that it could cause more damage in the area because Kihoto estate which is home to many flower farmers relies to shallow wells because the area has no piped water.
