A number of business people in Kibera are counting losses due to the heavy rains pounding the city.
Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, Titus Mulwa, a mechanic said he cannot go out to work due to the heavy downpour which has flooded his work station.
“Since the rains started, I have not been able to do any job. I have been called to go and repair a matatu at Yaya Centre but the rains have not favoured me. The rains started this morning making it impossible for me to go to work since my workplace is flooded," he said.
“Sometimes the rains interrupt the daily schedule. I woke up early today when there were no rains but when I arrived at my workplace, the rains started forcing me to shelter since I operate in an open ground,” said Jared Ouru, a welder in Laini Saba.
“During the rainy season most businesses especially those who operate in open grounds count huge losses and this makes business operators uncomfortable,” concluded Ouru.
