Motorists along the Kenyatta Avenue were the most affected with the early morning showers rendering parts of the busy highway impassable.

Most motorists expressed frustration over the poor drainage system in the town and called upon the county government to address the issue.

"Whenever it rains this is the situation we find ourselves in. Heavy traffic all the way. Sadly it affects our businesses because customers are opting to walk or go for tuk-tuks", stated Dickens Nyang'au, a boda boda operator.

His sentiments were echoed by Timothy Opiyo who added that the state of the town's main entry Kenyatta Avenue was wanting.

"This is our main highway into and out of the CBD. However it floods quite often making it inconvenient for many people. The county government ought to address this issue of a poor drainage system," he noted.
