Kenya Meteorological Department has said that the recent heavy rains are likely to subside.Acting director Peter Ambenje speaking on Thursday stated that Central Rift Valley will receive much of the rainfall.“The spatial extent of the heavy rainfall, above 40mm, is expected to reduce and will be mostly concentrated over the Central Rift Valley,” said Mr Mwangi.“The counties that will be affected include Trans-Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nakuru and Nyandarua.”In the last 24 hours, there has been heavy rainfall of more than 40mm starting in the afternoon from about 3pm in parts of Western, Rift Valley, Central and Nairobi.Nairobi County reported the highest rainfall amounts, with Dagoretti Corner, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Moi Airbase reporting heavy downpour of 68mm, 62.4mm and 53.1mm respectively.Regions over the highlands west of Rift Valley, however, reported moderate to heavy rainfall.
