Traders at the Ponda Mali trading centre in Nakuru Town West sub-county were Monday afternoon left counting losses following heavy rains that rendered sections of the market inaccessible.
The traders were forced to cut short their businesses after raging floods swept through the market.
Milka Njeri, a grocer said she lost some other goods to the floods, and called upon the county government to build them better stalls.
"Some of my vegetables were swept away by the floods. I tried to salvage them but the currents were just too strong. We need better stalls here," she lamented.
Her sentiments were echoed by John Owino who added that the bare ground where most of the traders place their goods couldn't just help much.
Henry Bikundo added that their constant pleas to the county were being overlooked and as things are they stand to loose big time as traders.
