Police officers have been deployed at all polling stations in Nyanza region to oversee tomorrow’s fresh presidential elections.

Nyanza Regional Commissioner Wilson Njega said the officers have instructions to deal firmly with anybody out to disrupt the voting exercise.

“It is the right of those who wish to cast their vote tomorrow to do so without any interference, therefore, those out to disrupt the exercise shall meet the full force of the law,” said the Regional Commissioner.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officers, he said shall be given adequate security to ensure that the voting exercise proceeds smoothly.

This follows threats from NASA supporters to attack the officers and disrupt the voting within the region and other coalition’s strongholds.

Addressing the media at his office today, Njega said all voting materials have been delivered and secured in readiness for the voting tomorrow.

Police officers, he said shall transport and escort the materials to the various polling stations in the region to ensure that there are no hitches.

“Our role is to ensure that the materials are delivered to the polling stations early at the same time provide security to IEBC officials and those who wish to turn up to cast their votes,” said Njega.

He cautioned protestors opposed to the election against violent demonstration warning that stern action shall be taken against them.

“We are asking them to demonstrate peacefully because any form of violence, looting and barricading of roads shall be met by the full force of the law,” he said.
