There was heavy traffic jam along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway Sunday night following a police road block put up at Kwabira junction in Limuru.
Hundreds of vehicles had to use alternative routes with most opting to use the Manguo road connecting the highway to Limuru town where vehicles found their way to Nairobi and other areas.
Manguo village was a buzz in the night as residents were puzzled about the heavy flow of cars in the area as vehicle headlights lit their compounds and houses.
Kimani Waweru, a bodaboda operator in the area said the vehicles were avoiding the heavy traffic jam along the highway as the police were taking too long conducting a search.
“I wonder what exactly the police are looking for to conduct such a thorough search on every vehicle that passes along the highway,” said Waweru.
Monicah Amondi, a motorist in the area said she had taken over 45 minutes on a stretch of the highway that would normally take a maximum of five minutes.
She was driving back to Nairobi after spending her Charismas holiday at her rural home in Kisumu.
