Although police arrived at the scene on time, removing the two loaded trucks from the road remained a hurdle, but the officers exuded confidence in clearing the road in due in time.

Salgaa traffic police boss Walter Kiptala said everything was under control as breakdowns had been called in to help clear the mess.

"The only disadvantage we have is the heavy loads the two lorries were carrying but were are trying our level best to have the road cleared so that operations resume," he said.

The lorries collided head on as the driver en route to Nakuru evaded hitting a boda boda cyclist and rammed into his oncoming counterpart who was overtaking.

The stretch to Salgaa has been earmarked a black spot after claiming thousands of lives over the years, with residents now demanding for erection of a speed post at the area.
