There was a heavy traffic snarl up along Mombasa Road after a water tanker burst while moving towards Nairobi at Everest Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened barely 200 metres from where three vehicles were involved in an accident in the morning.
An eye witness, Joshua Ochieng, told this writer that the incident happened unexpectedly as the driver was busy moving the trailer.
Mr Ochieng' who is a bodaboda operator in the area said the trailer disconnected from the vehicle's cabin not a long distance from where it got into Mombasa Road from a nearby estate.
He said on realising the incident, the tanker's driver stopped the engine immediately and jumped out.
The vehicle abstracted the highway for nearly three hours before it was moved thereby allowing for normal flow of vehicles on the road.
The vehicle's tank was lifted by a crane belonging to Standard Gauge Railway Contractor, China Road and Bridge Corporation after its owners sought assistance from the company.
There were no injuries after the incident.
