The Higher Education Loans Board will implement new recovery measures to recover Sh8 billion owed to the board by over 80,000 Kenyans.

Helb CEO Charles Ringera said on Thursday that the institution will now target business or property owned by defaulters to force them repay the money.

"The government has given us Sh9.1 billion this year, but before we get that capitation we will get money from anyone who owes us,"he said.

He said they will also follow up on those who have relocated to work or live abroad.

"We have appointed one diaspora company which helps us with the mapping of the people who work abroad and to ensure they pay the money," he added.
