The Higher Education Loans Board (Helb) has introduced an online program that will help track false information submitted by students seeking loans.

The program which is available on the organisation's website, will enable the board to track any false information provided by applicants seeking loans.

Helb Chief Executive Charles Ringera said the program will rely on the goodwill of other applicants to help net the offenders.

"In case an applicant knows a fellow applicant who cheated to be awarded a loan, then he can whistle-blow him or her," he said.

Ringera further warned that Helb will not hesitate to institute criminal proceedings against such applicants, for they sign the applications under oath.
