In an exclusive interview, Kiambu County public health officer Dr Francis Njuguna said that so far there are no problems in any hospital or dispensary.

He added: “Salaries have already been paid out to staff and there are drugs in the respective hospitals. All county and sub-county hospitals as well as dispensaries were running smoothly.”

He, however, revealed that the situation may turn for the worse if the Senate continues holding funds allocated to the county government of Kiambu. Njuguna said that hospitals will not be able to offer services as they depend on the county government allocation for funding.

He castigated those saying that the county government was yet to pay its medical staff, saying it was propaganda and medical services will continue to be offered.

The Thika Level Five medical superintendent, Dr Patrick Nyaga, said that so far they have not had any issues with either drugs or even staff salaries. He said they will only note a difference when the drugs and other essential facilities are not delivered to the facility.
