Speaking to the press at Kiambu town on Sunday, Governor William Kabogo complained that cases of illicit brewing are getting out of hand.

Kabogo said that Nacada has the authority to deal with such cases and asked the authority to urgently step in and address the matter.

“Nacada should step in and help us address illicit brewing and drug abuse,” he said.

The Governor at the same time called on the county leaders especially county administrators to crack the whip on illicit brew makers.

He said that alcoholism and drug abuse continue to destroy the lives of young people.

County Public Service Board chairman Dominic Gicheru while leading a crackdown on illicit brewers at the outskirts of Thika town yesterday warned that no one will be spared.

He said the county government is determined to deal with illicit brewing once and for all.

Gicheru asked the public to work with the police in order to address the menace.

On Sunday, police raided several brewing dens at Thika town and destroyed thousands liters of illicit alcohol.
