President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Isiolo residents to collaborate with government in fighting terrorism.
He said security agencies alone cannot successfully fight terrorists wrecking havoc in Coast and North Eastern Kenya.
Speaking during a vote-hunting tour in Isiolo and Garissa, he told locals the dusk-to-dawn curfew slapped in Lamu, Garissa and Tana River Counties was necessary in fighting the extremists who are a threat to national security.
“I urge you to work with us so as we can crack down on these criminals who are hiding in Boni Forest. Operation Linda Boni Forest is critical to national security. Once we flush them out, we will lift the curfew as it is derailing development in this region,” he said.
Uhuru who is seeking a second term in office urged the residents of the two counties to embrace the six-piece voting system and vote for him on August 8.
“We have appointed senior government officials from this region, I urge you to vote for me and Jubilee candidates so that we can continue with the work we have started,” he said.
Deputy President William Ruto took a swipe at the opposition for their claims that Jubilee intends to use the military to rig the election in favour of Uhuru.
“Our competitors have shown that they have no faith whatsoever in our local institutions and have continued to paint the State in bad light whenever they meet representatives of foreign nations. How can they govern a system they have no faith in” e asked.
