South West Kisumu ward representative Joseph Abiola said the leaders must now come together and rally their people to get IDs.

Abiola said Cord leader Raila Odinga is making his last stab in elective politics when he will be vying for the presidency in 2017.

He said Raila has been unable to ascend to power due to voter apathy in the region where he commands a large following.

“Our people must take ID and voters card. These two cards are very important in our lives,” he said.

The ward rep said Raila has fought for democracy in the country and the current devolution Kenyans are enjoying is as a result of his struggle.

He said leaders should now step up and ensure their people acquire voters’ card and create awareness on the need to cast a vote during voting time.

Speaking in Kisumu, Abiola said he will reach every corner of his ward and even the county to ensure those who lack the card can acquire one.

He told his people to look out for posters that will be announcing areas where application for IDs will be conducted across the ward.

“I will be rolling out taking voters card in the ward and beyond so that our people can be armed ahead of 2017 elections,” he said.
