A woman from Ruiru is appealing to the government to help her rescue her daughter who went to Saudi Arabia last September to work as a house-help.
Speaking to journalists at her Ruiru home on Tuesday, Esther Ndegwa said that her daughter, Ruth Wangechi was lured to going to the Middle East country by a woman who had come to visit them last year.
She claimed that she discovered her daughter had travelled to Saudi Arabia when it was already too late.
Ndegwa said that since then, Wangechi has only called her once to narrate the suffering she is enduring in the country.
“She did not tell me that she was going to Saudi Arabia. She said that she was going to Nairobi and would come back home. I called her after a while and she told me that she had left the country,” she said.
She said that her neighbour's daughter who had left the country earlier died in Saudi Arabia under mysterious circumstances and it took three months to bring her body home.
“I do not know what to do because we are talking of a foreign country I know nothing about. I am appealing to the government to help me to bring my daughter home alive and safe,” said Ndegwa.
