NASA presidential flag bearer, Raila Odinga has urged Kenyans of goodwill to help him raise money for his presidential campaign.
Speaking at a press conference in Nairobi, Raila asked his supporters to contribute towards his presidential campaign's kitty. Raila likened such contributions to 'buying a ticket to Canaan'.
The run up to August 8 general elections saw politicians exhaust all their funds in the campaigns. The presidential election results were nullified by the Supreme Court after Raila filed a petition contesting the declaration of Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner. The Supreme Court ordered a fresh election to be conducted within 60 days.
Having exhausted his campaign funds in last election campaigns Raila is now appealing to his supporters to help him raise funds for the rerun.
"Haba na haba hujaza kibaba. Ukitoa utakuwa unanunua tiketi ya gari inayoelekea Canaan. (Little contribution from each person will help in achieving our campaign funds target. When you contribute, you'll have bought a ticket for the vehicle that is headed to Canaan)," he said, Friday morning.
The NASA team has also unveiled an MPesa paybill number to help their supporters channel their money.
He further said that he was ready to face Uhuru in the October 17, presidential election.
