Annah Onkoba, a mother from Keumbu in Kisii County has appealed to the government to help her trace her 10 years old granddaughter who mysteriously disappeared last week.
Onkoba 65, said that the little Lillian Kerubo who is a class three pupil at Kegati Primary went missing since Saturday after she had sent her to a nearby shop.
“I had sent Kerubo to buy some basic items from the shop at around 6pm, but she never returned home and I have no idea what happened to my grandchild,” said Onkoba.
“I am really scared because no relative has given me any positive response whenever I call and this is a signal that she was either kidnapped or killed by someone,” feared Onkoba.
According to her, the little girl has no habit of hanging around with friends whenever she goes out hence she used to return home early to help the ageing mother with house chores.
“It is not her habit to spend with friends or to sleep out. I have stayed with her ever since her parents died in 2012. This makes me to strongly believe that something bad has happened to my lovely granddaughter,” added Onkoba.
She appealed to the government to help trace her granddaughter before something worse happens and also appealed to her neighbours to join her in the search.
“It is difficult for me to launch a thorough search considering my age. I strongly appeal to the State to chip in and help me trace Kerubo. I know she is very scared wherever she is. My neighbours and friends’ help will also be of great help to me,” said Onkoba.
