An elderly man from Makairo village in Nyamira has asked the government to help him recover his piece of land that has been allegedly grabbed by anonymous people.
John Oeta said he acquired his half an hectare piece of land in a nearby village in the early 80s and has been developing it since then.
Speaking on Tuesday, Oeta said anonymous people fenced his land and threatened to kill him if he reported the matter to authorities.
“I was mesmerised when I found people fencing my land. I have owned this land for many years after buying it from a friend and I have documents to justify that,” Oeta said.
“I don’t know these people who seem to be powerful. They told me they were working under directives from above and would kill me if I challenged them," he added.
Mr oeta called upon the government to help him recover his land since he had no money to subject the problem to court battles that requires a lot of money.
“I am appealing to the government to help me recover what belongs to me. I am old and I have no one to help me pay lawyers to pursue the matter. I hope I will get help from government,” he said.
