Residents of Thika town have been urged to collaborate with security agencies in a bid to eradicate crime in the area.
Area Deputy County Commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru, noted that if the residents fully embrace the ‘Nyumba Kumi” initiative and report any suspicious strangers to the authorities, crime would be eliminated in the county.
Gicheru noted that through the collaboration of the County and National Governments, area security had greatly improved but called on the residents to play a bigger role in the effort.
“I urge all the residents to play a bigger role by reporting any suspicious characters to the authorities. That way we will be able to eradicate the few isolated cases” he said.
The DCC was speaking on Monday morning in his office after two men were found dead in Kiganjo estate murdered by unknown gangs who allegedly attacked the deceased with crude weapons that left them lifeless.
He, however, thanked the residents for their continued collaboration with the security agencies, stating that it had made it difficult for thugs to attack the Sub County as opposed to the previous times.
Gicheru extended his gratitude to the county government of Kiambu for their continued support to fund Nyumba Kumi initiative saying it has been a plus in terms of security especially in the sprawling Kiandutu slum.
He also thanked Community policing chairman Paul Njomo for his determination in sensitizing the residents of Thika and Ngoingwa which has recorded highest number of crimes that drastically dropped compared to last year.
