A Kisii family now wants area county government, through disaster management department to pay postmortem and burial expenses of two children who died in a quarry at Monyerero ward.
On Monday, Jared Onsongo who is the father to the deceased, said the the children were trapped in the quarry while fetching clay soil.
Onsongo said the family is unable to raise funeral expenses, urging the government to intervene urgently to have the children laid to rest.
“This was purely an accident and i just lost my children unexpectedly. I have struggled to have the postmortem and burial done but in vein. We cannot be able to raise the money," he said.
"I humbly request Disaster Management department to intervene and have the expenses cleared. It is a tragedy that I cannot blame anyone for the loss," he added.
Onsongo's request comes barely a week after the Kisii County government compensated families that lost their loved ones in November's storey building tragedy in which 10 people lost their lives.
