Bodaboda riders and Tuk Tuk operators in Kiang’ombe, Thika Sub County have been urged to support police efforts aimed at fighting crime.
Thomas Thuranira, a Nyumba Kumi coordinator in Kiang’ombe said that boda boda and tuk tuk operators can help in the fight against crime by working with the law eforcers.
Mr Njuguna noted that boda boda operators interact with locals on daily basis and can help in surveillance and intelligence collection on whereabouts of criminals.
He observed that several cases of boda boda operators colluding with criminals had been reported before but the same has declined.
“We are calling on Boda boda operators and other locals in general to work with us as we seek to streamline security across this area,” said the Kiang’ombe Nyumba Kumi coordinator.
The Nyumba Kumi officers said that much effort has been put towards ensuring security of locals.
He asked locals to support the police by volunteering information that will aid in arrest of criminals.
Last week during the Mashujaa day celebrations at Thika stadium, Thika Sub County Deputy Commissioner Tom Anjere warned criminals allegedly causing havoc in some parts of Thika.
He said that police will mount up operations aimed at flushing out criminals. The DCC further appealed to residents not to fear the police but work with them as they streamline security in the sub county.
