A traditional herbalist from Kisauni has been rearrested over allegations of defilement.
The herbalist had been arrested for allegedly defiling his three-year-old stepdaughter, but was later released on a Sh50,000 bond.
Confirming the incident, Kisauni OCPD Richard Ngatia said he ordered the suspect to be rearrested and his bond cancelled.
"The suspect had been released on bond but we cancelled it following complains from the child's mother,” said Ngatia.
The girl's grandmother said that the suspect had lured her daughter to live with him, causing her to abandon her husband.
She expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the police had handled the case.
"We were shocked to learn that the suspect had been released on a Sh50, 000 bond," she said.
The man had earlier been detained at Bamburi Police Station before he was released on bond.
