A herbalist was on Tuesday charged before a Kisumu law court for obtaining money falsely from his customers.
Mr Aggrey Asiali a resident of Kisumu accused together with his wife who was not present in court denied the charges for the offence allegedly committed on diverse dates in the month of May 2015.
According to the prosecution, the accused falsely acquired Sh700,000 from Rosemary Mweu with a promise that he will get her herbal medicine to cure diabetes.
The court heard that the money was paid in installment where Asiali had promised that part of the money had to facilitate his transportation to DR Congo wher the herbs are found.
Ms Mweu reported the matter to the police after Mr Asiali failed to deliver the medicine on time. He is also said to have switched off his phone.
He was arrested on the March 5.
The prosecution also told the court that, other people had raised complains with the police about the herbalist.
Asiali is alleged to have been taking money from the public with the promise of getting them medicine, something he never did.
The prosecution said that previously the complainants did not have any evidence linking the accused to the allegation of receiving money falsely, but for the case of Mweu she provided sufficient evidence that led to his prosecution.
Asiali was released on a cash bail of Sh100,000 with surety of a similar amount and he is expected back in court on April 14.
