Herbal doctors in Uasin Gishu county have asked the ministry of Heritage and Culture to work closely with the ministry of Health and come up with structures that will help support them.

Led by Jamal M  ungana, a herbalist in Eldoret town, they complained that existing regulations by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board were too harsh for them.

They called for loosening of the regulations and allow them to provide medical help to the public.

"A requirement that we register each and every herb that treat different diseases with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board is a burden for us and we request that it be an exemption for us," noted Mungatana.

"We have knowledge and herbs that can cure some of the chronic disease in the country and if given a good working environment and support we will be able to save many lives," he added.
