The joy for feasting on game meat turned sour in Sulwet village, Njoro Sub County, after one person died for consuming an antelope's meat. Biston Sub Chief John Cheboi told this writer in Njoro town on Thursday that Joshua Koril met his death after he hunt down an antelope and roast it before consuming large quantities of the wild meat during a herding expedition in Mau forest. According to the Sub Chief, the herder was discovered dead at a makeshift structure used by herders in the forest by fellow herders on Wednesday evening about 2 hours after he consumed the wild meat. “He killed a young antelope and roasted its meat before consuming large quantities. It seems he was very hungry because he had been on a herding expedition for the last three days. The meat must have been infected, ‘’ said the sub chief. He added that the herder’s body was retrieved from the makeshift hut after other herders were attracted at the site by stray dogs that were feeding on the remaining carcass of the antelope. The body was later taken to Nakuru General Hospital mortuary by police from Njoro police station for a post-mortem.
