A herder was shot and killed on Tuesday after suspected Pokot bandits raided Kipchumwa, Marakwet East in fresh bandit attacks.

Police said about 20 armed West Pokot bandits invaded a grazing field along Elgeyo Marakwet border an area that is rich in pasture.

 Kipkogei Yegon, Marakwet East DCI boss said the bandits shot and killed Benjamin Kemboi aged 38 in  deep Embobut Forest near Sewes village around 2 pm. 

The attackers did not steal any livestock during the raid. 

"No suspect has been arrested but police have launched search for the suspects,"he said

"Herders from the two counties have been grazing in the area peacefully," he added.

He added that more police officers have been deployed to restore calm in the area.

The deceased body was taken to Iten County Referral Hospital morgue.
