William Gitobu appeared before principal magistrate Diana Mochache and was accused of defiling the minor on August 18 2014.

The court heard that Gitobu promised to buy the minor a cake to buy her silence.

The prosecution told the court that on that day, the girl was playing with another 3-year-old boy when the accused called her into the house and locked the door, leaving the other child outside.

The court heard that he defiled and later released her, promising to buy her a cake if she remained silent. The girl revealed the incident to the mother, who saw him booked at the Kiamumbi police station.

A medical examination was done at the Medecins Sans Frontieres hospital, where the results showed that the child had been defiled and a P3 form was issued.

The herdsman pleaded not guilty and was released on a cash bail of Sh200,000 or a Sh500,000 bond.

The case will be mentioned on October 3 and heard on October 30.
