The naming of Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga has sent a strong message to Kenyans.
Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula and Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto’s backing assisted Raila to secure the ticket after negotiations, reports Star. The local daily also reveals that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka had insisted that Kalonzo-Musalia Mudavadi ticket would have been the best.
“This was a tough call, but, eventually, all agreed that Raila was the best bet,” said an official privy to the negotiations, as quoted by Star.
Elsewhere, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho said that the journey to take Raila Odinga to State House has started when he jetted back into the country from the US and many thought his words meant nothing.
His Kilifi counterpart has said time and again that Raila is the right man to smoke out President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto from power in the forthcoming general polls. Do you think Kingi is a nobody in Kenyan politics?
Well, Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has been elusive when it came to pushing for Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka’s candidature. What message was Muthama sending to the people of Ukambani? The Senator kept on asking Makueni Governor to fold up his party and join Wiper for the sake of Kalonzo only for him to skive meetings meant to push for his candidature.
Leaders from Luo Nyanza cannot be ignored in this discussion. The likes of Senator James Orengo, Senator Anyang Nyong’o and others have played an immense role when it came to the naming of Raila as the NASA flag bearer.
