1: Raila was an MP at the same time as his father
Raila Odinga and his Dad Jaramogi Oginga Odinga shared the parliament between the years 1992-1994 when Raila was the member for Langata while his father represented Bondo constituency
2:His name means 'itchy'
The name 'Raila'is a luo word used to refer to something itchy and uncomfortable. His brothers name 'oburu' means dust.
3: Raila is a qualified Mechanical engineer
Upon finishing his primary and secondary education at Kisumu Union Primary and Maranda high school respectively, he joined the Herder institute at the University of Leipzig in East Germany for two years before receiving a scholarship to the Technical School Madgenburg (now Otto Von Guericke University Madgenburg) in 1970 where he graduated with a Masters in Science in Mechanical engineering.
4:He is a footballer
He once played as a midfielder for the Luo Union Footbal Club currently known as Gor Mahia. This can explain why the leader has taken responsibility of the team as the patron and is always present for major Gor matches.
He also hardly misses Harambee Stars matches and is a die hard fan of Arsenal.
