Intense lobbying for individuals seeking to be the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker is ongoing even before the position is officially advertised.
Already nine individuals have expressed interest for the seat among them incumbent Isaac Terer.
Others include Christopher Mitei, Jane Masai, Mary Kiptoo, Edwin Misoi, Dennis Kirwa, David Kiplagat, Ezekiel Kiyeng and Oliver Karori.
As at now, analysts say it's a two-horse-race for the seat between Terer and Mitei who also battled for the same seat in 2013.
Terer is banking on his track record to retain the seat having steered the County Assembly to being ranked top in terms of number of bills and motions it passed since 2013.
According to Assembly's Clerk Richard Chepkonga, the seat will be advertised next week.
"As at now I cannot say who are interested in the seat as we are yet to advertise it. We will do that next week and from there we will know those eyeing the seat based on those who have applied," Chepkonga said at his County Assembly office, Thursday.
The Speaker of County Assembly is elected by Members of County Assembly (MCAs).
The law dictates that the winner garners two thirds of the votes and if the required number is not attained in the first and second round, the candidate with the majority votes will then become the Speaker.
