Members of the National Assembly have approved Narok County Woman Representative and Lakipia West MP Patrick Mariru as the 1st and 2nd chairpersons of Committees in the Chairperson's PanelThe members of the chairperson's panel are selected by the Speaker in consultation with leaders of Parliamentary Parties pursuant to Standing Order no. 16.They also preside over the House in the absence of the Speaker (Justin Muturi) and the Deputy Speaker (Benjamin Cheboi).
During Wednesday's morning session, members also approved Kibwezi East lawmaker Jessica Mbalu and her Luanda counterpart Christopher Omulele as the 3rd and 4th chairpersons of Committees in the Chairperson's Panel.Their appointment follows yesterday's (Tuesday's) approval by the Senate Assembly, where Uasin Gishu Senator Prof Margaret Kamar and her Murang'a counterpart Irungu Kang'ata were approved Members of the Speaker's Panel on Interim basis.
