The government has now mapped out 'violence hotspots' in Nakuru county and the neighbouring Baringo county following the raising political temperatures.
A joint evaluation done between the national government and a local non-governmental organisation (NGO), Jamii Thabiti organisation, has showed that there are signs of political violence.
Incitements by leaders and cattle rustling as well as banditry have been mentioned as possible catalysts to violence.
According to Jamii Thabiti Organisation director, Peter waweru, they have been able to single out Tiaty in Baringo county as one of major hotspots following series of banditry attacks. He also added that other areas that are on their radar include, Naivasha, Gilgil, Molo, Nakuru west and Nakuru east. In Baringo county, Eldama Ravine and Kabarnet are on their watch list.
"We are working with government to empower peace monitors and members of Nyumba Kumi initiative," said Waweru.
