Politicians who are fighting for political survival are likely to lead to the fall of National Super Alliance (NASA). Besides lacking numbers that can add value to the party, these leaders can change their tune anytime and leave at a when they are needed most.
When Former Meru Governor and PNU leader Peter Munya joined NASA, many thought that he will stick with Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga to the end. It only took less than a week for Munya to make a political U turn that left a section of Kenyans thinking Raila’s team was crumbling.
Speaking after Munya joined NASA, Raila said that he could not hide his joy receiving the Meru leader, but in the long run he lost him to Uhuru.
"In yet another affirming indication that we are well on our way to Canaan, our ranks were bolstered by former Meru Governor Peter Munya leading members of the PNU party into the NASA fraternity,” Raila said.
He added: "The renewed enthusiasm for our coalition, which we are experiencing throughout the country, is very encouraging.”
In Rift Valley, Chama Cha Mashinani Leader Isaac Ruto left Raila a wounded man when he made a surprising U turn. It is evident that he never believed in Raila’s presidency.
Time has come for Raila not to waste time on leaders who want to join NASA while at the same time they want to survive politically.
