Besides the doctors' strike, Kenya's largest referral facility, Kenyatta National Hospital(KNH) was at it again this time from cases of child theft to performance of a brain surgery on a wrong patient.
A few weeks ago KNH hit the headlines after a story of a baby who had disappeared from the hospital was found in Kawangware with reports suggesting that the baby had been sold out.
The hospital has been reported to be a breeding ground for corruption and insecurity.
Yet again, the hospital is in the limelight not for good reasons at all.
A brain operation is reported to have been done on a wrong patient.
This comes against the backdrop of doctors' strike who doubles up as lecturers in health schools.
According to Dr. Ouma Oluga, Secretary general of Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists' Union(KMPDU), this could be as a result of a wrong identification tag on the patient.
This incident has eventually led to the suspension of surgical stuff after as confirmed by KNH CEO, Lily Koros.
Koro said that they took the action following the incident and in line with the hospital's procedures.
"We are happy to inform the public that the patient is in recovery and progressing well.
The hospital deeply regrets this event and has done all it can to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient in question," she said.
However, KMPDU, Dr, Ouma Oluga was against the suspension of surgical stuff arguing that this action must be condemned though it is not unique to Kenyatta hospital.
These developments that have cast Kenya's largest referral hospital in Kenya in a negative light have left scores of many in deep shock.
