Nairobi County Police Commander Japheth Koome had warned that the police would not allow the swearing-in of Raila Odinga on Tuesday, January 30 to proceed.
Even so, there are compelling signs that the police will not prevent the swearing-in after all.
One of the groups that had applied to use the park has withdrawn their application meaning that the threat of confrontations that Koome was talking about has been removed.
On the eve of the swearing-in, not a single police officer has been seen at Uhuru Park to block anyone from accessing it.
Already a number of NASA supporters are at Uhuru Park eagerly waiting for the day to break so that they can witness the swearing-in of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as president and deputy president respectively.
