Valentines Day is only two days away and lovers are now in a rush to book hotels and lodges to celebrate their love.
Some have already booked their places but majority as is peculiar with Kenyans, usually wait till the last minute.
If you are “last-minuter” and you are looking for a suitable place to spend your Valentines in Machakos County, here are a few suggestions to consider:
1. Machakos Peoples Park.
This is for those who are looking for a nice, fresh park not so far from Machakos town. It is affordable and easily accessible by both private cars and public means. The park, which was built during Governor Alfred Mutua’s first term in office is well maintained. You can enjoy a boat ride in the man-made lake within the park. You can take captivating photos near the water fountain and enjoy various delicacies and drinks served at the park’s food point as your kids entertain themselves at the children’s section.
2. Africa Heritage House
For those who love something exotic, this is the best place for you and your loved one. The house is located in Mlolongo and built in such a way that it is facing Nairobi National Park. African Heritage House is the most photographed house in Africa. It has a unique design and it houses various collections of books, pictures, artifacts and sculptures. For book lovers, this is also the best place to get-away with your lover. While at African Heritage house, you get double deal as you also get to watch wild animals roaming Nairobi National Park.
3. Athi Holiday Resort
Located along Athi River road in Athi River town, Mavoko constituency, Athi Holiday Resort is ideal for a family outing. Lovers who visit this place will enjoy the expansive swimming pool and mouth-watering delicacies. They also offer lodging services at affordable rates. According to travel.jumia.com, Athi Holiday Resort is listed in the top 10 hotels to visit in Athi River area.
4. Masinga Dam and Ol Donyo Sabuk National park
For picnic lovers and lovers of nature, Machakos County offers a variety of Valentines destinations. I will only mention two; Masinga Dam for some fresh air and cool breeze and Ol Donyo Sabuk for wildlife viewing. Masinga dam is located approximately 160km from Nairobi city, those visiting the dam can spend the night at the exotic Masinga Dam Resort. Ol Donyo Sabuk is located in Kyanzavi Division and is home to about 45 species of birds.
