Fitting in has been blamed as one of the major factors contributing to cases of drug abuse and suicide among many teenagers in the country.According to counsellor pastor Julias Chege under Nakuru teenage management group - which has been going round educating people on how to handle technological changes - fitting in has played a big role in turning many teens into drug addicts."As teenagers continue to grow and advance, there is a need to educate them on how to handle different issues in an acceptable manner. Things like social media and peer pressure are major causes of drug abuse. These things continue to fetch many youths' minds to an extent that they no longer listen but instead copy other peers to fit in,” he saidHe says that has been triggered by the fact that parents no longer have time for teens as they are always busy looking for money. He also said this is a dangerous stage as such teenagers are unable to handle challenges and would either turn to drugs or suicide at the slightest provocation. He said this on Thursday morning on a live interview with a local radio station.
