Two devolved units in the North Rift region have been ranked among the most corrupt in the country.
This is according to a survey conducted by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) that ranked counties by the proportion of those who paid bribes.
The survey ranked Trans Nzoia as the second most corrupt county with 84 percent of the respondents saying they had parted with a bribe.
Murang'a was ranked the most corrupt with 90.7 of those who participated in the survey from the county saying they had paid a bribe.
Other Nort Rift county that was listed among the most corrupt is Elgeyo Marakwet that was ranked at number 13 out of the 47 counties.
The survey dubbed, National Ethics and Corruption Survey 2016 was released on Tuesday with over 6,000 households having been surveyed.
"We distributed the samples to each of the 47 counties in Kenya, targeting both the urban and rural areas using the square root of allocation method," said EACCchairman Eliud Wabukala while releasing the report.
He said that the report showed that over 87 percent of respondents believed that corruption affects all sectors of Kenyan Economy.
The EACC chairman said that the report indicated over 63.4 percent of respondents believed that corruption in Kenya was on the rise and 45 percent are anticipating a steady rise through the year.
However, 15.3 percent of the respondents expect low levels of corruption this year.
