Bright boys who will accrue 400 and above marks in KCPE are set to benefit from a scholarship scheme by a Nairobi private secondary school sponsored by investors from Turkey.

Mohammed Ishmael, the Principal of Light Academy Secondary School, based at Karen-Nairobi, said interviews for boys willing to join the school will be carried out at Moi Primary School in Nakuru Town.

In 2016, Ismael revealed that they offered scholarships to a tune of 26 boys from various schools in the country adding they want more boys to benefit from the initiative.

Speaking to standard eight candidates at Mama Ngina Primary School, Ismael said on Thursday that the school was a high-cost institution, but they are willing to extend the opportunity to pupils who could not afford the fee.

He however, added that even after scoring the 400 marks the candidates will be exposed to interviews which will be carried out on various dates in various counties.

The interviews, he said, are aimed to prove that the candidates’ marks were at tandem with their academic prowess.

Mama Ngina Primary school headmistress Mrs Rose Mayieko, lauded Light Academy for introducing a chance for disadvantaged bright boys to study in their premier institution.

The school, Ishmael said, uses modern technology in teaching and attributed this to its outstanding performance.

According to him, the school fee was 180,000 shillings per term and they were aware that not many bright students could afford to pay, hence the scholarship offers.
