2022 general elections will be highly lit especially the presidential division considering the absence of the 'big dogs' (Uhuru and Raila)
It may record the highest number of contestants should it happen that neither Uhuru Kenyatta nor former prime minister Raila Odinga register their bid following the proposed constitutional changes.
This will encourage more unknown wannabes to surface ahead of the elections.
Speculations also have it that Odinga is using his numerous historical handshakes to pave his way to state house come 2022 however, no verified sources have confirmed this.
Here is a tentative list of possible presidential aspirants in the 2022 general elections;
1. William Ruto - the current deputy president.
2. Stephen Kalonzo - former vice president. Backed up Odinga in 2017 as the deputy.
3. Musalia Mudavadi - also former vice president. Backed up Odinga and Kalonzo in 2017. Leaders from his background declared him their candidate.
4 . Gideon Moi - Baringo Senator and the son of former president Daniel Moi.
5. William Kabogo - former Kiambu governor. He revealed during a TV interview that he won't hesitate to contest in 2022.
6. Moses Wetangula - Bungoma Senator, he urged Odinga, Mudavadi and Kalonzo to let him try it out.
7. Mohammed Abduba Dida - High School teacher who vied in 2013 and 2017
8. Ekuru Aukot - Kenyan lawyer. Contented in 2017 presidential elections.
9. Cyrus Jirongo - Former Ligari Member of Parliamentary. Contested in 2017
10. Hassan Joho - Mombasa Governor11. Japheth Kavinga Kaluyu - was an independent candidate in 2017.
12. Michael Wainaina Mwaura - was an independent candidate in 2017
13. Joseph Nthiga Nyagah - former cabinet minister. Vied in 2017 as an independent candidate.
The 2017 presidential elections only had 8 contestants.
