The makeshift hotel is owned by a man called Simon Onyoni Kombo.

The photo shows him, Kisii Governor James Ongwae, and MP Richard Onyonka taking tea and some chapatis.

Kenyans did not waste time to weigh in on the photos that have caused a lot of excitement.

Garissa residents were also quick to share their views.

Their reactions were mixed and varied.

Here is what some of them said:

''Deputy President William Ruto is a true hustler. He will fight for the hustlers when he becomes the commander-in-chief in 2022,'' Boru Boru said.

''This is nothing but shameless public relations. We want to see photos of him doing constructive things that will help us,'' Ahmed Sukre said.

''He is trying to project himself as the poor people's president. That's all he is doing,'' Salima Mohamed said.

''This is the kind of leadership that we want to see. Servant leadership,'' Galgalo Omar opined.

''Deputy President Ruto should know that we the voters won't be impressed by cheap PR gimmicks. We will judge him on what he has been able to do for us. Here in Garissa, we have many problems that need solutions,'' Hersi Dulo said.
