Governor Ali Korane has a reason to smile after Garissa County was crowned the winner of the health coverage exhibition.
The award, which was presented by the Council of Governors Chief Executive Officer Jacqueline Mogeni during the annual Kenya health forum 2018, is a great boost to Korane who has promised to transform the health sector after succeeding Former Governor Nathif Jama during the last General elections.
The incumbent county boss has pitched tent in different parts of the region to increase the deliveries in health facilities.
One of the notable achievements is the provision of maternal health care through shelters.
Korane also established an initiative aimed at improving maternal health care and support for safety interventions.
The new measures aimed at reducing the maternal mortality rates in the county.
This comes after the awarding team examined various aspects including the latest health developments in the health sector in the country. In the three day forum, the officials from different parts of the nation discussed various issues affecting the health sector.
The meeting was attended by national and county health workers, non-government organizations, and donors.
The leaders pledged to work together to improve the sector in the coming years.
