As the Nation is mourning the death of Lucy Kibaki, Women representatives have been challenged to initiate more projects which will empower women and girls in the society as one way honoring the late Mama Lucy Kibaki.
According to the women who were interviewed on Wednesday in Kisii town, they said the women have a good opportunity of transforming the nation so long as they initiate many projects.
Emily Gichana, a business lady urged the women representatives to use their positions and funds to empower others in the society as it was done by the late Lucy Kibaki.
“We are mourning the death of the first lady Luck Kibaki because of what she did in terms of empowering the women and her support for the girl child hence we are urging Women representatives to follow in her footsteps,” said Gichana.
Jane Onsongo also added that through the initiating of projects they will make the leadership of the nation more brilliant as they will have the support even from the men.
“Empowering women in the society will improve the economy of this nation, there are many women who have been initiating some projects but when they die nobody does a follow-up," said Onsongo.
"We urge our Women representatives to make sure that they are doing enough to initiate projects,” she added.
They also mention the late Wangari Maathai and Late lucy Kibaki among others women who have made the women proud.
