Former Subukia MP Koigi wa Wamwere has said he regrets never having Kenya's founding father Jomo Kenyatta his view on his political ally turned foe Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

Speaking to Inooro TV, Koigi said that Jaramogi Oginga Odinga held Jomo Kenyatta in high regard despite them disagreeing politically.

“I regret failing to ask Kenyatta what his perception of Jaramogi was because Jaramogi held him in high regards,” said Wamwere.

“I went to Jaramogi’s house and found the portrait of mzee Jomo Kenyatta hanging and I asked him what the portrait of the first President of Kenya doing in his house displayed prominently yet they were often disagreeing. He told me that he held Jomo Kenyatta in high regard because he was the founder of the nation,” Koigi said.

The veteran politician said the encounter changed his view on Mzee.

“My view of Kenyatta changed after Jaramogi registered his opinions of Jomo Kenyatta that day I visited him in his house,” said Wamwere.

Wamwere further challenged the media to look for Maumau heroes who would divulge a blow by blow account on what happened during the long fought freedom war.
