Social media users on Facebook can now visit a patisserie by a click of a button.
This has been made possible by a former cateress of the Nakuru War memorial hospital, Pamela Oronje, who enjoys baking cakes, breads and making pies alongside other snacks such as scones, buns and biscuits.
Upon the expiry of her contract in 2010, Pamela yearned to create a job. That’s when Global bridal cake house was conceived, although in baby steps.
“I needed to be self employed, so the first thing I looked for was capital which I used to purchase a bakery oven at Sh7,000 from jua kali shop," Pamela said.
After obtaining the vital baking equipment, Pamela started working in a small space that is now her bakery.
“I was fully committed, I would wake up early in the morning so as to have pieces of bread and cakes and pies ready on time. Most clients purchase the snacks in the morning after visiting my facebook page," she said.
In the course of the day, she distributes to offices or sell off via facebook after orders are placed.
“With the assistance of my team, we move out and deliver to clients or give a few samples to potential clients,” Pamela adds.
The venture, which started in the year 2010, banks on facebook for marketing and customer engagement.
