After Raila Odinga was named NASA flag bearer in the August 8th election and reliable sources saying the deal between the five principal was that the former Prime Minister will be a term president, discussion have now been who will hoist the NASA flag in 2022.
Four principals remain and as they call themselves first among equals, Musalia Mudavadi(ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetangula (Ford-K), and Isaac Ruto (CCM) all have shown the desire to ascend the house on the hill.
During a last week interview with Radio Citizen senior political reporter Joseph Njane, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said he will be on the ballot in 2022, making him the next president after Raila so he says.
Kalonzo' s sentiments were also echoed by Kitui governor Julius Malombe who said Kalonzo's stand in NASA will win him the presidency in 2022.
However, Lugari MP Ayub Savula as if responding to Malombe has said ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi will be NASA automatic candidate in 2022.
NASA coalition flag bearer Raila Odinga with his co principal Musalia Mudavadi share a light moment
"If Luhyas vote for Raila, Mudavadi will by virtue of proximity, inherit Raila's Nyanza political base in 2022. It must be known that NASA is Mudavadi's brainchild," he said.
Savula said he banks on the Mulembe community to throw their weight behind Odinga to the last man to ensure Mudavadi becomes presidential flag bearer in 2022.
"Luhyas will play a key role in the NASA administration and this sets the stage for a Luhya presidency after Raila," he added.
Savula was speaking at Manyonyi during his campaign for reelection.
According to political pundits this infighting among leaders allied to Mudavadi and Kalonzo may derail NASA's march to State House.
