President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Amolo Odinga met face to face and shook hands during the burial of during the funeral of Former Nairobi Women rep Racheal Shebesh’s father Samuel Mbugu.
Kenyans on social media noted that President Uhuru avoided eye contact when greeting Raila, who he calls his elder brother. In his speech, Raila called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to respect the elderly.
Raila also said that he respects the will of the people, adding that he is ready to concede defeat if he loses in a free and fair manner during the fresh elections scheduled on August 26.
“Whether it is my brother Uhuru who wins or myself I will respect the will of the people and I know he will do the same if I win,” Odinga remarked.
On his part, Uhuru said that he has no problem with Raila but asked him to respect the will of the Kenyan people in the event that he is beaten.
“Let us go back to the ballot and let the citizens decide. Raila said I should respect old men and I respect old men but l tell him to respect the decision of Kenyans,” Uhuru said.
